A comprehensive CME session that equips clinicians to recognize perimenopausal and menopausal presentations, distinguish hormonal and non‑hormonal therapies, apply evidence‑based management algorithms for vasomotor and genitourinary symptoms, communicate effectively about sexual health, and proactively address menopause‑related quality‑of‑life concerns to improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Identify the common symptoms and clinical presentations of perimenopause, menopause and sexual dysfunction in midlife women.
  2. Differentiate between hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options, including indications and contraindications for hormone therapy.
  3. Apply evidence-based algorithms to manage vasomotor and genitourinary symptoms in the primary care setting.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication techniques for initiating discussions about sexual health with patients.
  5. Improve patient outcomes by addressing menopause-related quality-of-life concerns proactively and confidently. 
The MSACOFP is an accredited sponsor by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The MSACOFP designates the 2026 Thirsty (for Knowledge) Thursdays Series for a maximum of 5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity. AOA Category 1-A credit is accepted by the American Board of Family Medicine as Division I credit, and accepted by the AAFP as Elective Credit. AOA Category 1-A credit meets the qualifications for the 30 credits required by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians for each reelection cycle.

Jessica Richter, DO, MPH, FACOFP

Jessica Richter, DO profile picture

Dr. Jessica Richter is a Board Certified Family Physician who lives in Kansas City, MO. She practices full-spectrum Family Medicine, with a focus on Women's Health including Obstetrics at Sunflower Medical Group in Lenexa, KS, and delivers babies at the Birth Center of Overland Park Regional Hospital.

Dr. Richter was born and raised in the St. Louis metro and is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. After medical school, she moved to Kansas City and completed her residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Richter also earned a Masters of Public Health degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., which she completed in 2019. She is actively involved in advocacy and several medical societies at the local, state and national levels. She is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOFP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the the American Osteopathic Association, and the Missouri Society of the ACOFP, where she currently serves as the Immediate Past President.

Dr. Richter speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys working with patients from all walks of life. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading for fun, Pelotoning, and spending time with her two young sons and husband.
