Student Chapters of the ACOFP

The Missouri Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians supports the student chapters of the ACOFP at the three Missouri Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences - College of Osteopathic Medicine
Kansas City, Missouri
Joplin, Missouri

The KCUMB Epsilon chapter, a member of the National American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), is designed to introduce and expose medical students to the world of family medicine and all it encompasses. The organization provides members with opportunities to improve their clinical, social and academic skills. The student chapter of the ACOFP annually sponsors seminars that bring in national speakers to talk about the challenges and rewards of family medicine. The organization also assists with school physicals, casting clinics, diabetes screening, fall festival first aid booth, and provides clinical experiences with KCUMB physicians. Recently, the KCUMB-COM ACOFP Student Chapter held an Exam/Board Studying Food Fundraiser. With many second year students taking an on-campus weekend-long Kaplan course and first year students studying for finals, the chapter got creative and decided to provide lunches throughout the weekend to raise funds for the club. Members also baked snacks to sell along with fresh-brewed coffee. This made it much easier for students to have a productive study weekend and eliminated the need for them to leave campus for meals.

The Undergraduate Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) is the student affiliate of the largest college in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Part of the mission of ACOFP is to promote and advance the standards of general practice in the field of osteopathic family medicine. Membership programs and services are designed to encourage and maintain high professional standards through a wide variety of services and activities. The ATSU-KCOM Chapter of ACOFP is the only club on campus that does not charge for membership and consequently has 100% membership from all four classes.
