Molina Healthcare Receives DiRenna Appreciation Award
The Missouri Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (MSACOFP) recently recognized Molina Healthcare with the James DiRenna, Sr., DO, Appreciation and Recognition Award, honoring the organization’s support of osteopathic family medicine and its investment in physician-led community health initiatives across Missouri.
The award was presented by MSACOFP President Caitlin Rogers, DO, FAAFP, to Andrea Verplaetse, Market Development and Strategy Director for Molina, during MSACOFP’s 2026 Women in Medicine Retreat at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Named in honor of James DiRenna, Sr., DO, the award is presented annually to an individual or organization that has demonstrated continued support for Missouri’s osteopathic family medicine or the osteopathic profession.
Molina joins a distinguished group of previous recipients that has included individual physician leaders as well as organizations such as SSM Health, University of Kansas Hospital, Missouri Primary Care Association and Missouri Professionals Mutual.

Supporting Physicians Who “DO Good” in Their Communities
Molina’s recognition comes as the organization supports an exciting new initiative of the DiRenna Foundation for the Advancement of Osteopathic Family Medicine — the “DO Good” Community Action Grants Program.
The DiRenna Foundation exists to support charitable, educational and scientific activities that improve community health while advancing osteopathic family medicine in Missouri.
The new DO Good program is designed around a simple idea: family physicians often know better than anyone where local charitable activities can make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
Through the program, Missouri osteopathic family physicians, residents and medical students will be able to seek support for locally driven projects that improve access to health services or education, strengthen connections between communities and health care, or encourage interest in health professionals’ careers. Emphasis will be placed on communities experiencing health inequities or development of the health professions workforce.
Projects may include efforts such as free or low-cost health screenings, community health education, preventive health initiatives and outreach to underserved or at-risk populations outside traditional clinical settings.

Family Medicine Investment in Community Health
Molina Healthcare’s support will help launch the DO Good Community Action Grants. The program is intended to produce impact on several levels: improving health locally, strengthening trust between communities and health professionals, and inspiring the next generation of physicians and other health professionals.
For Molina Healthcare, supporting the DiRenna Foundation represents an opportunity to invest not simply in a program, but in the local leadership of Missouri’s osteopathic family physicians — physicians who understand their communities, recognize unmet needs and are often uniquely positioned to bring people, resources and organizations together.
The James DiRenna, Sr., DO, Appreciation and Recognition Award celebrates that partnership and the shared commitment of MSACOFP, the DiRenna Foundation and Molina Healthcare to strengthening family medicine and improving the health of Missouri communities.
Congratulations to Molina Healthcare and thank you for supporting Missouri’s osteopathic family physicians as they continue to “DO Good” in the communities they call home.
