NextGen Leadership and Career Development

While no step in the pathway to a career in medicine is easy, the toughest phase may be early career. New physicians are navigating residency, transition to a first professional position, family obligations, new financial decisions, clinical challenges, establishing a patient panel and community relationships, leaving colleagues and meeting new ones, a complex health care system, and more. At MSACOFP, we are dedicated to helping our members take strong, confident steps in this phase of the path. We are invested in early-career physicians, and as the professional organization of osteopathic family physicians in Missouri, we have just the network of physicians and professionals to help every step of the way. 
Join our inaugural NextGen Leaders class at the 2026 MSACOFP Winter Family Medicine Update to:
  • Connect with your peers early in their career in family medicine across Missouri
  • Learn new technical skills to improve your professional wellbeing that you can apply immediately in your clinical roles, your administrative roles, and your volunteer roles
  • Develop relational and adaptive leadership skills that will strengthen your resilience, flexibility, and impact across a variety of settings, to make more progress on the issues you care about most
Eligible Participants: Current family medicine residents and physicians in their first five years of practice since residency or fellowship graduation
Learning Objectives: After this program participants will be able to...
  • Tap into an expanded network of peer and near-peer early career physicians to help navigate similar and different experiences in leadership and career development.
  • Use new relational and adaptive leadership skills in their own workplace and volunteer roles to make more progress on issues they care about the most.
  • Use new technical skills to improve professional wellbeing in an employed health care setting.
Cost: Free for members of MSACOFP

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. for residents (breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided)
           12:00 - 8:00 p.m. for early career physicians (lunch and dinner provided)

Bonus Opportunity: Attend the entire conference Thursday, January 22 - Sunday, January 25 for additional clinical education (CME), networking, connections with industry representatives, and fun in one of the most active neighborhoods of St. Louis! The conference is free for residents and discounted for early career physicians.

8:00 - 9:00 a.m. - Conference Orientation and Networking Activity (residents)
9:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Brunch with physicians, residents, students, and industry partners
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Clinical Skills Workshop (residents)
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Speed Date Family Medicine Careers (residents)
12:00 - 1:00 p.m.  - MSACOFP all member meeting (residents and early career physicians)
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Lunch (ALL!)
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Leadership Skills Workshops (residents and early career physicians)
5:00 - 6:00 p.m. - Residency Meet and Greet (residents help showcase your program to students)
6:00 - 8:00 p.m. - MSACOFP Annual Celebration (ALL!)
