Officers serve a two-year term, and the Governors serve a three-year term. Residents and students serve a one-year term. The President elect chairs the Convention and Education Committee. The Vice President chairs the Membership committee. The Board is responsible for nominating all officers and Governors for election by the membership, and a Nominating Committee reviews all volunteer applicants and also recruits individuals. Officers and Governors assume their duties immediately following the elections at the annual membership meeting. Students are appointed based on their election to president by their school's chapter of the Student Association of the ACOFP. The Board meets as a full group six times per year:

Committees All committee members serve a two-year term beginning immediately following the elections at the annual membership meeting. Committees consist of committee chair, two full members, two life members, one resident, and one student, and may have additional members appointed. Convention and Education Committee The Convention and Education Committee plans the annual Winter Family Medicine Update (WFMU) and other educational events. The committee meets monthly to develop the topics, speakers, and special events for the WFMU; and many members serve as moderators during CME events. At the conclusion of each educational event, the committee evaluates and suggests improvements for the future. All CME events provide category 1-A Continuing Medical Education credits through the American Osteopathic Association and prescribed credits through the American Academy of Family Physicians. Membership Committee The Membership Committee meets virtually every other month. With the strategic plan as its guiding resource and membership data and statistics as reference, the committee develops opportunities to meet with and engage students, residents, and new members. If you are interested in reaching out to your colleagues, presenting to students or residents and representing MSACOFP at various external events, this committee is for you. Women Physicians Student Engagement Council This committee harnesses the energy and passion of medical students who want to help their peers discover the possibilities in family medicine and strengthen the specialty they are interested in pursuing a career in. Students plan the student track of programming at the Winter Family Medicine Update and plan other engagements and initiatives throughout the year. This council meets every other month. ACOFP Congress of Delegates As a delegate representing Missouri, you play a part in shaping policy for osteopathic family medicine at the highest level. Volunteers attend virtual committee meetings to review and recommend resolutions as well as the Congress of Delegates meeting which is held at the ACOFP Annual Convention and Scientific Seminars annually. |
